Let’s see northern lights in Yurt Freya, Iceland!

Our yurts are end up in some fantastic locations. They are mainly set in beautiful, serene countryside, providing a calming space to rejuvenate our body and soul. Wow, this location in Iceland is just striking! It is notably hidden in the heart of Iceland’s Golden Circle, nestled among stunning views and the silence of the Icelandic countryside. It is an ideal place to see the northern lights, or auroras borealis, where the sun’s solar wind collides with molecules in the Earth’s upper atmosphere, which creates large areas of colour including pale green, pink, shades of red, yellow, blue and violet. The lights generally start 50 to 400 miles above the Earth’s surface.

The Mongolian Yurt’ Freya’ is named after the Norse goddess of fate, love, beauty, gold, war and fertility. Black and white yurts are rare in Mongolia. Rick and Jitka applied their artistic creation to the yurt, blending the colours of a northern lights theme into our Mongolian yurt by painting the door and crown wheel. Yurt Freya also has an unconventional layout with a hanging bed suspended by rope from a wooden frame. The same frame supports chairs next to the beautiful wood burner. This amazing setting in the wilds of Iceland offers an unforgettable yurt experience, which is unique.
